The Pacific Humanitarian Team

The Pacific Humanitarian Team is a coalition of humanitarian actors and organizations who are active in the Pacific region. It focuses on 14 Pacific Countries, not including the territories under direct French, UK or US administration. This area is defined by the countries covered by the United Nations Resident Coordinators based in Fiji and in Samoa.

However, while OCHA acts as the secretary for the PHT, and the chair of the PHT strategic body is the UN resident coordinator, the Pacific Humanitarian Team is not a United Nations initiative per say, nor is membership limited to United Nations agencies. Of its many active members, the majority work for national and international non-government organizations. In addition, membership includes staff from national governments who are invited to, and participate in, PHT meetings.
