6TH PACIFIC HUMANITARIAN TEAM REGIONAL WORKSHOP 2013
Organized by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) Regional Office for the Pacific, the Pacific Humanitarian Team (PHT) Regional Workshop has proven to be a valuable opportunity to promote international and regional best practice in humanitarian assistance across the Pacific Island region.
Monday 21 October 2013: PHT Leadership Strategy Consultation
The first day of the workshop was set aside for consultation between the Strategic Advisory Group, National Disaster Management Office representatives and PHT Heads of Organizations.
Tuesday 22 to Thursday 24 October: PHT Regional Workshop
Over the next three days, the workshop built upon and consolidated lessons learned from recent emergency responses and inter-agency preparedness activities around the region. These included a review of the draft PHT Position Statement, climate outlook, PHT cluster meetings, and donor round table.
Friday 25 October: Regional Consultation on DRM/CC Road Map
The final day provided an opportunity to take part in the process of developing the next Disaster Risk Management (DRM) and Climate Change (CC) Strategy for the Pacific, to be endorsed by regional leaders in the coming year. The development of this integrated regional strategy for DRM and CC is part of a process now commonly referred to as the ‘Roadmap’. SPC, SPREP & ISDR were the key organizers of this one-day consultation with humanitarian partners in the region.
