Dear PHT ICCG,

Since our previous discussions at the lessons learned workshop we would like to call the next ICCG meeting on Thursday, 12 July, and flag a few upcoming items below.

  1. Coordinated Needs Assessment Mission /MIRA – As mentioned previously, we have been fortunate enough to mobilise funds for an assessment specialist to support improving coordinated needs assessments in the Pacific.  Johanna Wegerdt will be spending next week in Fiji followed by missions to Vanuatu and Solomon Islands from the 14 July until the end of the month. We would like to have our next ICCG meeting at 9:00 AM Thursday 12 July in the OCHA conference room to discuss the IASC Operational Guidance on Coordinated Needs Assessments, PHT assessments support to PICs and receive your input regarding your respective Clusters engagement on assessments and recommendations. A more detailed agenda will be shared early next week.
  2. Pacific Humanitarian Bulletin - Later today  we will be sharing the first issue of the Pacific Humanitarian Bulletin which will provide quarterly updates on humanitarian action in the Pacific Islands to partners across the region. The Bulletin will provide information on recent response, practices, trends and analysis. It will also provide an opportunity to highlight PHT Cluster and partner efforts in the region with support from OCHA PI (Joanna McIntosh). Please contact Joanna (mcintoshj@unocha.org) with any feedback or  recommendations on what you would like to include in future Bulletins.
  3. Lessons Learned  follow-up - At the end of the LL workshop a few thematic areas were identified for further discussion. To keep the process light, we agreed that a series of brown bag discussions will be facilitated by ICCG members on each theme, as follows:
    • Standards (facilitated by IFRC)
    • Cross-cutting issues with a focus on Gender (UNW/GenCAP)
    • Partnerships - strengthening PHT regional and national partnerships (To be determined)
    • These are meant to be informal but constructive discussions with a list of recommendations that can be shared with PHT ICCG, considered in preparedness plans and raised/discussed at the annual PHT meeting in October. Dates and venue for the brown bags will be shared in the coming days. A forth thematic area, Needs Assessments, was identified for OCHA and the IASC MIRA consultant to follow-up on. This will be covered in the ICCG meeting 9:00AM Thursday, 12 July. The NDMO has yet to confirm the date of the National Lesson Learned exercise.
  4. There are a number of workshops and events planned in the coming months:
